Position: Disability Support Worker
Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time / Casual

What You'll Do

As a Disability Support Worker with Fortis Care, your responsibilities will include:

    • Assisting with daily personal activities such as hygiene, meal preparation, dressing, and grooming, while ensuring that participants maintain dignity, comfort, and independence in their everyday routines.

    • Providing high-intensity personal care to participants with complex needs, delivering professional and compassionate support that caters to their specific health and disability requirements.

    • Supporting participants in community participation and social activities by encouraging engagement in events, programs, and recreational opportunities that foster independence, social connection, and inclusion.

    • Helping to implement Behaviour Support Plans by following strategies that promote positive behaviours, reduce risks, and enhance the overall quality of life for participants.

    • Assisting with travel and transport arrangements to ensure participants can safely access community resources, attend appointments, and remain active in their social and civic lives.

    • Collaborating on developing person-centred support plans with participants, families, and professionals to ensure supports are tailored to individual goals, preferences, and NDIS requirements.

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Current National Police Record Check — apply via the Australian Federal Police (AFP)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check — learn more via the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission

  • Medication Administration Certificate

  • Infection Control Certificate — eLearning modules available via the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care

  • Mealtime Management Certificate — training available via Scope Australia (NDIS-compliant mealtime/dysphagia training)

  • Current First Aid Certification

  • Current CPR Certificate

  • Experience in using a hoist

  • Current Manual Handling Certificate

  • Valid Victorian Working with Children Check — required for working with children in Victoria

  • Valid Driver’s License and own reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance (compulsory)
